I’m so inflamed! I Appreciate the fresh Mulan, and I was hoping this would be half as profitable as the first. It wasn’t even that.

First of all, the music is poor and the animation lacks the romance, vision, and saunter of the new. The current team worked hard with their concepts, which was sure. Whoever made made this…did not.
Second, the snort talent was severely lacking this time around. Even the characters who ended up with the same impart actors sounded a bit flat. Like the actors were rushed or as if they objective didn’t really care.

Third, everyone seemed out of character! Not unbiased their speech patterns, but in some cases their movements, manner, and ENTIRE PERSONALITIES were honest…severely diminished or entirely changed. These are not the characters I fell in care for with! At all!
Fourth, everything was disgustingly predictable. Gee…Mulan’s three male friends are looking for wives and fair HAPPEN to befriend guard the three exquisite princesses? Golly…WHAT WILL HAPPEN? DUH. Can we say formula-written? The whole account was fair…disappointing and derivative.
Fifth, I found it insulting to aged Chinese culture. Fair because our novel Western culture does not mediate highly of or participate in arranged marriage doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, or that it wasn’t celebrated THERE. In fact, it is serene widely practiced in many countries, and you know what? It often works out! It was a share of peoples culture, collected IS a section of peoples culture, and ISN’T wicked. I found this movies’ villifying of arranged marriage and all who participate in it to be very insulting and typical “our USA design is the BEST plan and the ONLY diagram, and everything else is Infamous”. I hope they never showed this movie over in China, or else I’ll be very embarassed for the USA.
Sixth…ugh, nevermind. I don’t even want to believe about this dreadful movie anymore. They should have left the Mulan series as a single movie – the one that retold the current myth. But, being Disney, they fair HAD to add a crappy sequel and capitalize on the amazing recent movie.
The only reason this got 2 stars instead of one? Although the scene at the bridge has been done a million times over and is NOT fresh at all, it was well-done. Brought a slide to my sight, I admit. But it was a cheaply gained mosey, because I’ve seen the same scene in 92752375 different movies.
DO NOT watch this movie if you admire the unique and don’t want your vision of it injurious. This movie is crap.
The epic of Mulan II begins with Mulan thinking about marrying General Shang… which upsets one of Mulan’s spirit guides (Mushu) so grand that he decides to sabotage their relationship. Mushu is scared that he will be demoted if Mulan goes through with her plans to marry General Shang, because tradition calls for the wife’s spirit guides to lose their pedestals in the household shrine at the time of marriage, meaning that they would then be subordinated to the husband’s ancestors. The sage moves succor to Mulan and Shang, who are asked by the Emperor to provide reliable passage for the Emperor’s three daughters across China, so that they can be married to three princes in order to bring peace to China. Mulan and Shang recede with three trusted soldiers, who plunge in admire with the princesses in their care… as Mushu begins his plans to demolish Mulan and Shang up. Mulan II is paunchy of jokes, songs, and an significant message about following your heart. My approved fraction of the film was one of the opening scenes, in which Mulan describes the importance of yin and yang in a elegant song and dance number. This is a fun family movie, with inviting special features, too.

This DVD should be held up as an example of what DVDs are all about. The transfer and restoration of this 50 year customary film is suitable. It is the reason we are willing to exercise a slight more to upgrade from VHS and are awed when we notice the extraordinary results. Filmed in “VistaVision”, the widescreen recount lets you prefer in every scene of this fabulous classic from edge to edge. The represent is certain, enchanting and in aesthetic technicolor. The colors are gorgeous and vibrant.
You have the choice of viewing it in DD5.1 surround or the restored Mono. For those looking for some special features, Rosemary Clooney helps out with a retrospective interview and also commentary. There are English subtitles for those needing them and may also be viewed in French(mono) .
The film is a esteem in itself. Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye,Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen are the stars of this 1954 musical with songs by Irving Berlin that you’ll want to shriek along with and withhold humming long after the film has ended. Directed by Michael Curtiz it’s a feel righteous film that although takes station during the Christmas season, is one that you can pull out and glance anytime of the year.

Bing and Danny were Army buddies, now a successful song and dance team and are out to abet their current stale retired General(Dean Jagger),who is having pain coping with retirement. The General is now running a country inn in Vermont, but the gargantuan scrape is there is no snow to bring up the tourists. Bing and Danny to the rescue, as they turn the inn into a showcase of talent, and drop for the Haines sisters along the plan. Can these unbelievable voices also bring the snow out of the sky? …well..you know.
This film is filled with Berlin’s incredible tunes. When Bing takes Rosemary’s minute hand in his and croons “Count Your Blessings” to her..well it’s movie heaven. Rosemary also treats us to several numbers, Vera-Ellen does some amazing hoofing, and Danny clowns and keeps us smiling like only Danny can. And how great fun is it watching Bing and Danny do the “Sisters” number together? …alot! Then there’s the goose bump evoking, wonderfully nostalgic scene of the four of them singing “White Christmas” together with the Winter Wonderland of Vermont as a backdrop.I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the amazing character actress Mary Wicks, she’s a mammoth busy-body who causes misunderstandings, and also maintain an perceive out for George Chakiris and Barrie Lope.
Thanks Paramount for bringing us this mountainous ragged classic holiday film on this stout DVD…like…Laurie

Recently, Paramount has offered us fantastic modern DVD-issues of classics like To Rep a Thief and Comic Face, both shot in Vista-Vision, and now looking better than ever on home video thanks to Paramount using unusual camera materials for the transfers. Naturally, I expected that the same loving treatment would be given an stale popular like White Christmas, which was the first feature film shot in Paramount’s beneficial wide-screen process called Vista-Vision.
Not so! This original “remaster” is honest as dreary-looking as the older DVD. Grainy and soft with an unstable stare and wearisome colors except in some brightly lit “performance” scenes. Also lots of dirt marks and scattered speckles, plus an unsightly splice or two. And NO fresh extras! Where is the expected featurette about the Vista-Vision system – newly made or at least some aged promotional reel taken from a shelf in the archives? A spacious disappointment! And by the plan, where are all the many beloved Paramount classics from the fifties and sixties that have not yet been released on DVD? Not a single title in see for the coming months. Gloomy.

The Muppets Messed-up DVD![]()
The Muppets Take Manhattan is the third Muppet film and although not the strongest, it’s sure to entertain the entire family. The story follows the Muppets on their quest to get their show, “Manhattan Melodies”, produced on Broadway. It’s a terrific story that hits at the core of what the Muppets are all about, namely putting on a show. Sure the music isn’t as memorable as that in the first muppet movie (except “I’m Gonna Always Love You”), but you can’t help appreciating the lengths to which the Muppets will go to entertain you. Singing chickens? Got ‘em! Frogs with hair? Check! Unbelieveable action sequence? Of course, and it’s unbelieveable in more ways than one! A Muppet staple is the cameo and they abound in this film. Everyone from Liza Minelli to Art Carney sets some screen time. Joan Rivers is particularly funny in her over the top make-up scene with Miss Piggy. For all you Trekkers, Gates McFadden even appears as a secretary to a con man!
The film is great entertainment, but this DVD has problems. First of all the digital tranfer isn’t that good. Plenty of older films like Fantasia look stunning on DVD, but not this film. There is a graininess to the picture that can be discracting and artifacts abound. Sound is presented in only a mono format. Was the original film released this way? I don’t know, but if so some mention should be made on the packaging, otherwise it feels like we’re getting ripped off. On a positive note the film is presented in both a formatted and widescreen version. As for the other bonuses, there is a strange feature called “Muppetisms” that I can’t really figure out. They are minute, minute and a half long segments featuring one or two muppets just goofing off and benign wacky. Not too sure what it’s all about, but it was fun to watch – once. By far the best bonus feature is the interview with Jim Henson. He talks a bit about the making of the film, how decisions are made and such. It’s an incredible peek into the creation of a Muppet film. There is one glarig problem though – the chapter stops are just little minute or so long bits of the interview. To see the whole thing you have to continually stop and start up again. It’s a big mistake and makes watching the entire thing quite a chore.
My final word on this edition is buy it for the widescreen version of the movie only. The transfer isn’t that good, the bonuses aren’t that great, but the film itself is a real treat. Not the strongest Muppet film, but not the weakest either. If you have the video and don’t care about widescreen, you can easily (and sadly) pass on this DVD. If not, pick this up for a fun romp around Manhattan that you and your family are sure to enjoy again and again.
This movie is so amazing, it will change lives!![]()
“Muppets Take Manhattan” is my favorite movie of all time, and yes, I’m above the age of 6. This movie gem from Jim Henson and company is nothing short of brillant. It provides a humor that is wonderful for children, yet not insulting to adults. There is a underlying humor that adults will appreciate. The muppet characters stand out in this movie, and it is especially nice to see the movie incorporates most of the main muppet favorites. While Kermit is the main protagonist, other muppets steal the show, such as Miss Piggy, whose temper tantrums are hilarious. The muppets are wonderful together as well, and the songs performed in the movie are classic and very catchy. I also love the human aspect of the movie. One of my favorite things about muppets are that they have always interacted with human society, and no one seems to care. And when the muppets are cavorting around Manhattan, the human element adds a realistic, as well as funny, touch. honestly, “Muppets Take Manhattan” is my favorite movie. It is funny, has great songs, great setting in New York City, and it has a great message to always keep trying no matter what. It is a movie to be enjoyed by all ages, and trust me, it won’t disappoint!
The Muppets storm NYC and try to get their play on B’Way.![]()
I first saw this movie when I was a little child, and I just saw it again last month at my friend’s house. It was just as good as it was when I first saw it more than a decade ago! If you love the Muppets you can not miss this. If you hate the Muppets, watch this and you will love them. It’s a great movie for all ages. When you watch the scene when Kermit goes to the producer’s office, decked out in an afro and medallion, I strongly urge you not to drink or eat because you just might choke. But all this is just my opinion…see it and judge for yourself.
